The Avatar Project will be the first one between both institutions

This realistic virtual avatar, capable of interactivity through gesture and voice, will be used in the treatment of people with schizophrenia to assess their level of social cognition. Cartif provide technology and hospital medical staff, which also have the support of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Valladolid.
Dr. Carlos Martin, director of the Hospital St. Louis, noted during the signing of the agreement that this project will be "a system of evaluation of a number of basic emotions that the patient will have to acknowledge." The avatar will look like a real person known by the patient, thus facilitating the same confidence in the system. Thus, the therapist will regulate the functions of the avatar and check the patient's mood.
