Development of extraction systems for natural products

Application of new technologies for extraction and isolation of natural products with biological activity from agro-food waste, using leaching, supercritical fluid extraction, striping, and other techniques.

Development of systems for fractioning and stabilization of natural products

Systems for purification, separation, and stabilization of natural extracts, by fractioning on a resin, spray drying, selective extraction, and cross-flow filtration.

Revaluation of agro-food waste

Application of biotechnological processes to agro-food waste for obtaining products with high added value.

Development of processes for obtaining biofuels

Processes for the manufacture of biofuels from waste and energy crops. New fermentation techniques and innovative processes in a supercritical medium.

Design of industrial processes

Design and implementation of processes (or processes steps) in various sectors (e.g. dairy, pastry, automotive, and wood sectors).

Design and construction of pilot plants and prototypes

Currently, the area counts with pilot plants of supercritical fluid extraction, hydrolysis reactors, ultrafiltration, bireactors, and a multipurpose pilot plant, which are all used for the optimization of study processes.
