The measurement of objects using laser technology offers much greater precision than other contactless technologies. To this we add a high density and speed of acquisition compared to conventional scanning techniques. Therefore used in the measurement of deformable objects (clays, foams, etc..) Or very degraded (artwork).
These characteristics make laser optical measurement technique accurate enough to be employed in industry (withdrawal of parts and quality control) or Medicine (reproduction organs, prosthetics), and sensitive enough to scan fragile.
The laser optical measurement precision (s = 0.2 mm maximum) is based on the triangulation principle, of determining the coordinates of an object knowing the distance between the transmitter laser and camera that captures its sweep, along with the angle that both are with the trace laser passes through the object.
