Biomedical Engineering is the discipline that applies the principles and methods of engineering to understanding, defining, and solving problems in biology and medicine. The activities of the Biomedical Engineering area within Cartif are aimed at making available to the medical teams the tools offered by engineering as aids to research, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses, and to the enhancement of technological systems that are currently in use on diverse areas of medicine.

The concern of today’s society about controlling their health through their diet, makes indispensable an exhaustive control of the food manufacturing processes that guarantees maximum quality and safety.

The Food area of Cartif works on giving solutions to the industry and to consumers, paying attention to their needs. In other to achieve this, we optimize manufacturing processes, develop new ecological and functional products, and perform agri-food waste recovery, as well as executing physical-chemical analyses.
